Williamsburg Technical College student Stephanie Evans was recently recognized with 16 other students from across the state by the South Carolina Technical College system for nomination to the All-USA Academic Team. USA TODAY, the American Association of Community Colleges, and Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society sponsor the annual competition, which seeks to promote academic excellence and provide scholarship awards to 60 outstanding community college students throughout the United States. Evans was recognized as South Carolina nominees at an event at the State House on March 5.
Students named to the All-State Academic Team join an elite group. Less than one percent of America’s six million two-year college students have distinguished themselves with this superior level of academic achievement and service to their colleges and communities. “These students have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and impressive records of service to their colleges and communities,” said SC Technical College System President Barry Russell. “They are the best and brightest that our state’s Technical Colleges have to offer, and I congratulate them on their many accomplishments.”
