The 2008 Williamsburg Technical College overall winning team from Carvers Bay included: Qushaun Gibson, Candace Pressley, Brian Owens, Raven Pittman, Brittany Alston. Team sponsors were Judi Robinson and Vernetta DeKine. Owens was also the overall individual winner.

HOSTS TENTH ANNUAL MATH CONTEST

Williamsburg Technical College hosted the tenth annual WTC Math Contest on February 15.  Five area high schools participated, including Hemingway High, C.E. Murray, Carvers Bay, Johnsonville, and Williamsburg Academy. 

Carvers Bay High School took the top place in the team competition.  Carvers Bay student Brian Owens was also the individual top winner. Second place team was C.E. Murray High, and third place went to Williamsburg Academy.  Second place individual winner was C.E. Murray High student Whitney Sabb, and tied for the third place in the individual competition were Marcus Rush of C.E. Murray High, Inbo Sim of Williamsburg Academy, and Lauren Stogner of Johnsonville High.

Other students participating in the event included: Candace Pressley, Brittany Alston, Raven Pittman, and Qushaun Gibson of Carvers Bay High; Marcus Rush, Kierra Jones, Chaunese McCrea, and Danielle Bradley of C.E. Murray High; Kindred Durant, Saiydah Marshall, Virainia Timmons, Jalisa Porchea, Ashley Flowers, and Raven Dorsey of Hemingway High; Rachel Prosser, Rachael Hunter, Ashton Squires, and Jimmy Parker of Johnsonville High; and Kyle Floyd, Alex Corey, Gene Gause and William Welch of Williamsburg Academy.
