WTC, WA Offer Dual Enrollment Courses

A total of 23 Williamsburg Academy students are currently enrolled in dual enrollment courses offered by Williamsburg Technical College at the Academy campus.  Dual enrollment courses provide high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to take a single course while in high school and receive credit both toward their high school diploma and a college degree.

WTC math instructor Willie Bryant teaches college algebra and  WTC instructor Charles DeMay teaches English and public speaking dual enrollment courses on the WA campus. Other traditional university transfer courses have been offered by Williamsburg Technical College to WA students and to other area high school students over the last several years, some on the high school campuses and some on the College’s campus.

Dual enrollment courses that have been offered by Williamsburg Technical College for area high school students include English composition I and II, algebra, statistics, calculus, chemistry, and psychology.  In some cases, dual enrollment students choose to attend non-dual enrollment classes on the Williamsburg Technical College campus that are for college credit only to get ahead even further in their college careers. Dual enrollment students are able to defray the cost of the courses they take through South Carolina Education Lottery tuition assistance.

Last academic year, all eight of the area high schools’ top honor graduates had been enrolled through their schools in the Williamsburg Technical College dual enrollment program and through traditional college enrollment at the College.
