Exchange Bank of South Carolina Named WTC Benefactor of the Year
The Exchange Bank of South Carolina was recently recognized as Williamsburg Technical College’s “Benefactor of the Year” at a statewide event sponsored by the state’s technical college system and the individual colleges.
The event recognized the support of the many individuals and organizations across the state who have given their time, energy and resources to make a difference in the lives of the nearly 235,000 technical college students served each year by the South Carolina Technical College System. Fifteen of the 16 technical colleges in the system recognized major contributors who have impacted the nearly 235,000 students.
The Exchange Bank of South Carolina has shown tremendous support through the years to the community it serves and to Williamsburg Technical College. According to retired Exchange Bank president and Williamsburg Technical College speech instructor Robert Arnette, "The Exchange Bank concentrates on sound investments with the outlook of serving our community."
Arnette and current president John Martin have been very instrumental in maintaining a supportive relationship between the Bank and the College though the years. Martin was a key figure in the Bank’s participation in the Campaign for Progress at Williamsburg Technical College. The Bank awards an annual scholarship to an outstanding Williamsburg Tech student. They have even provided their key employees to teach continuing education courses in personal financial management.
“Education is vital to a strong community and we are very fortunate to have a local college that can help shape and develop our leaders of tomorrow,” Martin says. “We want people to stay in this area, to live and work in Williamsburg County. We are proud to be a part of Kingstree and Williamsburg County and are proud to work with Williamsburg Technical College to see that our local leaders of tomorrow receive the knowledge and skills they will need to make our community a better place to live and work.”
