Williamsburg Technical College American Literature Students Bring Authors to Life

Williamsburg Technical College students Erika Chatman from Greeleyville (left) and Gregory “Ty” Wallace of Kingstree recently took their classmates on a trip back in time to the 1920s Harlem Renaissance. In addition to an informative PowerPoint presentation accompanied by jazz music, the two students wore costumes and became novelist Zora Neale Hurston (Their Eyes Were Watching God) and poet Langston Hughes (the architect of the Black poetic tradition). Chatman is an associate in arts major and Wallace is a general college studies major planning to transfer to the University of South Carolina in Columbia.
