

WTC Early Childhood Instructor Earns Doctorate
Earlene Walker-Kelly, a resident of Sumter, SC, recently completed the requirements for the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Education with a specialization in Leadership for Higher Education at Capella University in Minneapolis, MN.
Earlene Walker-Kelly completed her dissertation entitled, “Faculty and Student Perception Regarding Delivery of Online Courses in the Early Childhood Department of Select South Carolina Technical Colleges.”
Since 1998 she has served as Williamsburg Technical College’s advisor and child development instructor, a position that serves to prepare candidates to enhance the quality of childcare by providing standards for training, evaluation, and recognition of infant/toddler caregivers based on their ability to meet the unique needs. Prior to coming to Williamsburg Technical College, Earlene Walker-Kelly serve as education/child development/nutrition coordinator for the early head start program with Sumter School District 17, early care and education adjunct instructor at Central Carolina Technical College in Sumter, and district manager of the Rocking Horse Child Development Center of American, Inc.
She earned a Master of Early Childhood degree from the University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC; a law degree from John Marshall Law School, Atlanta, GA; a computer science degree from DeKalb Technical College, Atlanta, GA; and a Bachelor of Science degree in social students/education from South Carolina State University, Orangeburg, SC.
She is married to James Kelly and is the mother of two beautiful daughters, Roblena and Robbie Walker.
