Employment Security Commission Director to Speak at WTC Graduation

 

Jimmy L. Wilson, area director of the Williamsburg County office of the South Carolina Employment Security Commission (ESC), will address the 125 Williamsburg Technical College graduates and their guests at the graduation ceremony on May 15 at 7 p.m. in the College’s courtyard area.  Rain location will be the Kingstree Senior High School gymnasium.

 

A graduate of Battery Park High School in Williamsburg County, Wilson holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Fayetteville State University. As a 30-year employee with ESC, Wilson has served in many positions prior to his directorship including unemployment insurance claims unit supervisor, employment and training unit supervisor, resource center supervisor, program assistant and employment counselor. He has also worked with Dubois Dyeing Company and Fayetteville Supply and Cleaning Company.

 

He currently serves as president of the Williamsburg County Chapter of the State Employees Association and is past chairperson of the Williamsburg County Schools Vocational Advisory Board. He is a member of the Kingstree Rotary Club and is actively involved in the Greater St. Mark AME Church. He holds the title of Notary Public for South Carolina. Wilson was the 2003 recipient of the Customer Service Award from the S.C. Chapter International Association of Workforce Professionals (IAWP). He and his wife, Mariah, reside in Williamsburg County and have five children.
