WTC HOLDS BLACK HISTORY EVENT

Williamsburg Technical College’s Student Support Services (SSS) department hosted a Black History event the last week of February.  Retired educator Adelaide Brown (center) was guest speaker for the event entitled “Remembering the Past, Embracing the Present, Rejoicing for the Future.” A “parade of fame” highlighting many African American success stories was also part of the program.  Pictured with Ms. Brown are SSS director Collette McBride (left) and WTC president Cleve H. Cox. SSS is a federal grant program sponsored by the US Department of Education which provides opportunities for academic development, assists students with basic college requirements, and serves to motivate students toward the successful completion of their postsecondary education.
