Dual Enrollment

Are you interested in taking college classes?

Are you interested in attending college early?

Are you interested in saving money on college tuition?

Are you interested in experiencing college classes taught by dedicated instructors?

If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, then Williamsburg Technical College has opportunities for you to get a head start on your college-going ambitions.

When taking dual enrollment classes...

- students receive college credit for courses.

- classes are offered at high schools in Williamsburg County or on the Williamsburg Technical College campus.

- the courses transfer to any South Carolina public college or university and many private colleges.

- the courses are taught by experienced and dedicated college instructors.

- the student will request dual-credit through his/her high school.

Admission requirements for University Transfer Courses are:

1. Complete an Application for Admissions to Williamsburg Technical College.

2. The student must have obtained junior or senior status and be at least 16 years old.

3. The student must be currently taking high school courses with a grade point average of at least 2.50.

4. The student must meet requirements for admission to the College, including SAT, ACT, or ASSET/COMPASS scores.

5. The student must have a letter of permission from his/her parent(s) or guardian(s).

6. The student must have a letter of permission from his/her principal.

7. The student must pay the tuition to Williamsburg Technical College. A Deferred Tuition Payment Plan may be used.

8. If the student is taking more than one course, he/she will be eligible for Lottery Assistance, reducing the amount of

out-of-pocket costs. To receive Lottery Assistance, the student must complete FAFSA waiver form.

9. EACH OF THE ABOVE STEPS MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO THE BEGINNING OF THE SEMESTER IN WHICH THE STUDENT IS ENROLLING.

It is the student’s responsibility to contact and receive written assurance from any nonpublic institution in South Carolina or any public or private institution

outside South Carolina of that institution’s willingness to accept a dual enrollment course toward degree requirements.

Cost for the Program

Please go to www.wiltech.edu, click on Financial Aid/Tuition Information, then click here for tuition breakdown to see exactly how much your costs will be per credit hour with or without State Lottery Tuition Assistance. In addition to Financial Aid options, tuition may be paid by cash, check, or credit card. The cost of textbooks varies according to the course, but ranges from $60 - $120 or more. Students must purchase textbooks.

Other Facts

- All forms must be completely filled out and checked that every answer is complete.

- Test scores must meet the College’s standard for entrance to each individual course. For example, the minimum score for English 101 is an SAT 460 or ACT 17.

- Dual enrollment classes taken during the school day at area high schools are generally arranged through the individual high school guidance counselor the semester before the student wishes to enroll.  High school students may also choose to enroll on their own (with the approval of their high school guidance counselor) for after-school hour courses that will count toward college credit but not toward high school credit.  Students much register for these courses directly with the College.
